Sloane Ranger Belgravia Apartment Refurbishment

How we reconfigured a Chelsea apartment to suit our client’s lifestyle

Our client loves her apartment’s location in Belgravia and the proportions of the ground floor, with its high ceilings and tall windows, but when she bought it, it was hideously decorated.

The initial brief was to provide only interior design services.

After meeting the client and her husband and discussing their tastes and lifestyle, the interior design project soon evolved into a complete re-organisation and renovation, including structural works, new services and a new lighting design.

In line with Studio 29 Full Architectural and Interior Design Service, we designed the layouts of both ground and basement levels, all the built-in furniture and sourced all the furniture and complements.

In the basement, we positioned the master suite at the front of the building, where there is more natural light, and we placed a smaller guest bedroom with a shower and a sauna at the rear.

The dressing room is a filter between the hall and the main bedroom and gives also access to the bathroom. It is fitted with bespoke wardrobes lined with cedar wood and a all glass shoe cabinet.

The ground floor, which retained the ornate ceilings and the original marble fireplace, was also re-organised.

A built-in cupboard and a cloakroom which clutterred the entrance were removed and an odd bar area was converted into the new cloakroom, decorated Fornasetti tiles. Also by Fornasetti, a favourite designer of our client, are the Farfalle (Butterflies) chest of drawers and the umbrella stand at the entrance.

The kitchen is white and minimal, in contrast with the ornate plaster cornices and the basketweave parquet flooring.

For the sitting room décor we selected a few pieces of modern Italian design in a palette of white, grey and pink and complemented them with blush pink wool curtains.  A charcoal silk rug from The Rug Company with an hand carved star motif is the perfect background to Neville Stephens’ fireplace.
